" Groundscape " ( in the definition of Ilka & Andreas Ruby ) is a term for land transformation, which has gone from a state of architectural repression, in the initial stage of the modern movement, to be one of the key concepts of contemporary architecture . Unlike traditional dialectical interpretation of ground as the " other side " of architecture , the very basis for the figure of the building , contemporary architecture, is the ground and the building, as inseparable parts of a new urban area that is not already dissected by a single horizon. If it is traditionally regarded as a flat floor surface, marking a sharp boundary, between heaven and earth, currently seen as a volume precisely where it used to be the old limit - do places . In sunk, partly arising from land, defining a new state groundscape, both the landscape and architecture.
Contemporary architecture has explored different types of relationship with the physical territory within the conceptual territory of groundscape , creating a number of types of territory: The program of the cultural center- Submerged Ground : the mass of the field "swallows " the building and , therefore , it stops to be a separate object to become an integral part of the land . The upper plaza offered (more to less) -Ground as a cover : the architecture disappears covered with a layer whose texture is similar to the surrounding environment .
The towers and skylights - extruded floor : a part of the floor is extruded upward , displaying it as a solid mass which, however , it is find as an architectural object occupied by the program.
Through these conceptual changes in the relationship between the building and the land , the antagonism between the figure and the ground gives way to flexible and inverted configurations as a figurative ground or anchored in the ground figure. At the and , the land ceases to be a foreign state or accidental relation to architecture and , at the same way , the latter, can no longer be conceived without ground. Both exist only in different scale of mutual interdependence clan groundscape place as foundamental ecology of contemporary architecture.
