A single-family country house is ment to be projected in a small land plot in Ojacastro, La Rioja. House program consists on a living-room, a kitchen, at least two bathrooms and four bedrooms. We’re also asked to minimize the budget as much as possible. The reduced size of the plot doesn’t allow us to develop the whole program on a single floor, while its north-oriented location leads us to place living and kitchen spaces in the upper floor and to displace it towards south.
This displacement makes it possible to cover the whole house with a single sloped roof, similar to the slope of the ground. This way the house appears as a single floor house when viewed from the outside.
Access to the house is located on its west side, through a small treshold. Living room and kitchen are held in this floor, most public one. South facade, provided with large windows, allows sunrays into the living room. Fireplace, located in the core of the house, invites inhabitants to gather towards it once the sun has set.
Four bedrooms are held in lower floor. Those in the middle have a moderate size window each, while Windows of those located in the corners look towards east and west.
