A contemporary main square should respond to a system scale, which relates it to the other public spaces of the city and to a sub-system scale, which seeks to provide answers to the sum of programs and activities to which a current plaza should respond. .
The tradition of main squares corresponds, generally, to the structure of an empty rectangle to which the buildings that surround it appear. However, the proposed plaza tries to generate a "liquid" limit, soft, that configures multiple concavities where social encounters have a place. In front of a "living square", a square that houses areas of different dimensions and spatial qualities. Some semi-public, intimate and tight, and other public, open and generous in size.
From a strictly formal point of view, the deformation of the alignment does not lie in the random, but responds to a detailed prior study of the state of conservation of the preexistences. In this way, it is avoided to impose a formal a priori inside the block that is the object of the competition, but rather the line drawn is sensibly adapted to protected buildings. The radii of the circumferences that trace this light limit host activities of different natures and try to build a changing and surprising space that embraces the citizen.
